If you’re thinking of breakfast cereal, it’s likely this article isn’t directed at you. No offence.
This is a call to arms for all FL Studio users (the grown‑up name for the old‑school Fruity Loops music program) based in Brisbane and surrounds who might like to hone their production skills and attend a series of free workshops to be held at The Edge at the State Library of Queensland.
The workshops are aimed at intermediate to advanced users, and will explore electronic and hip-hop production, working with voice samples, and the art of remixing.
Those who haven’t used FL Studio before can download the demo to their computers and have a go (www.flstudio.com) or check out an introductory workshop next time The Edge puts one on (keep your eye on the website).
The workshops are being run by Andrew Curnock—Audio Catalyst at The Edge, videogame soundtrack producer and electronic musician. Andrew has more than 10 years’ experience with the program and a real desire to see some high calibre music production from local artists.

Sunday’s (21/03/10) workshop was a huge hit- some very talented producers turned up & made some nice beats. Hope to see you all there next time!
Next Workshop is April 10 at The Edge – 2pm til 4pm
